Bent Glass Shower Doors and Partitions
Go to our gallery site: www.glasss.com. This is shower number 1086 in the upper left corner.
This large Shower Partition is made of 1/2" clear tempered glass. It is bent to a radius of about 61"
The size is about 82" x 82"
It weighs over 300 lbs. There was a U-channel against the wall. On bottom there was a little curved step in the concrete floor which the curvature of the glass matches. We pumped black silicone into the gap. Once the silicone dried the glass was very solid. It took three of us to carry it in from the truck and several other people helped by clearing a path and putting down 2x4 blocks for frequent rest periods, and making suggestions which we couldn't seem to hear. We bought special suction cups which are made for curved glass. Now we have those availale for rental. The doorway to the bathroom was smaller than the glass. We almost had the contractor take out the sheet rock but then we tried it again tilting the glass and lifting one end high in the air and we made it through the doorway. We can ship one of these to you for about $4000.00 including shipping.

The Minimum Radius of Curvature is said to be 16". However you should have us double check that the glass can be made before you build the opening.

Laminated glass can also be bent, but it tends to delaminate when water gets to the edge.
Laminated glass is far more fragile than tempered glass. Did you see the page on Strength of Tempered Glass? Be sure to go to page two.
This door #1001 was fabricated and tempered in Chicago, sandblasted in Los Angeles and installed by us in Oakland. The sandblasted pattern reminds me of Corona Borealis. As I remember, this door would run $2-3000 shipped to your door. These are some of our most expensive doors. We shipped four bent doors to Columbia along with instructions which were translated into Spanish.
