INSTALLING FIXED PANELS WITH U-CHANNEL AND BRACKET
U-Channel at the bottom and a bracket on the side
You can install either the panel first or the door first. Probably the door first is easier because you can swing the door out of the way. See Installing the door Instructions.
So, now the door is installed. There should be 7/16" under the door so the the top is at 72" or whatever was specified when ordering. The fixed panel should fit the opening with 5/16" clearance. Check the drawings we gave you for the clearance specified. I generally leave 1/8" at the wall and 3/16" between door and panel. You can move the door to make the clearance right. Most tempering plants will not remake a panel unless the glass is 3/16 or more off but with the new CNC machines glass is almost always within 1/16".

It is best to do all of the following dry, that is, without silicone first. This is where renting a suction cup comes in handy as you may need to set the fixed panel in the and take it out repeatedly. You will need a helper. It would be very difficult to do this alone. Especially since if you bump the tile with the glass it may explode.
Run a bead of clear silicone on the bottom of the U-Channel and a small bead inside the U-Channel on each leg.
Set 3/16" Setting blocks inside the U-channela nd set the U-Chaneel on the curb 1/8" away from the wall. Check your drawings for the correct clearance from the wall.
Set the fixed panel in the U-Channel. Make sure you never touch the tile with the glass. It may explode see the Installing Single Door Instructions. The top of the fixed panel and the top of the door should line up. If they don't you will have to adjust the setting blocks. We give you a variety. This is why you should have done it dry first.

Mark the Hole location of the bracket. Did I mention the bracket is supposed to be already on the glass. Oh Well. If you are using a bracket like ROM91, then marking and drilling is a little easier and faster.
After marking just lean the glass out a little and drill the hole, shove in a plastic anchor, lean the glass back and screw it up real good.
Silicone the side between glass and tile. Use Blue tape on tile and glass on both sides to save hours of clean up. Squirt the silicon into the gap, finger it, and pull the tape off. Finger the silicon so that the bead is small enough to be off the tape, as in not much showing. If the bead is large and you pull the tape it will just mess everything up and you'll have to use a razor blade for hours to clean the silicone.
Silicon sticks incredibly well to glass and tile, afterall, they are all made out of silicone. We often do not screw the U-Channel down into the tile. Silicon sticks well. If you have to remove the glass you will see how strong it is. While the silicon is wet you can kick the panel around to make it line up with the door.
