LAMINATED GLASS is 2 layers of glass with interlayer of vinyl.
Stock sheets are 1/4" thick. Common colors are clear, grey, bronze, and white.
Custom "Architectural" laminated is not terribly expensive and can be made in greater thicknesses with heat strengthened or tempered glass.
Laminated is not used in showers because it may delaminate. Also not used in many hanging top hung sliders because it is so fragile.
Laminated glass can be made with polished edges and holes. Laminated glass is like the windshield of your car. It is more burglar proof because you'd have to hack at it to get through the glass, but it is a lot more fragile than tempered glass. It may crack under it's own weight or due to sunlight and shadows.

Custom "Artistic" Laminated Glass: Generally about $100/s.f.

No. 1006
White fibers between two layers of glass. Suitable for doors
and windows requiring safety glass.
Not great for shower doors as water causes delaminatation.
If you have a framed shower, you could use this with edges
sealant.
