Measuring Inside Corners

Photo below shows the normal method people use to get bad measurement. The tape is bent and the corner is not sharp. The dimension we are looking for is somewhere between 12 5/16 and 12-1/2".
Don't Measure this way.

The Photo Below shows a better way to measure.
Make a mark on the tile and then measure from the opposite corner and add the two measurements.
For the top of the door, hold a ruler or framing square in the opening and measure what's left and add those two dimensions together. Harmon could have used a friend to hold the tape for him.
You can see that your dimensions will be accurate to 1/16" if you use this method. A large source of error has just been eliminated from the equation and life is but equation.
